Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar held a series of high-level meetings with representatives from the energy and finance sectors in New York, where he was attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) alongside President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to the ministry statement, President Erdoğan led the Turkish delegation in New York, conducting both bilateral and multilateral engagements. Minister Bayraktar accompanied him, focusing on energy and mining-related discussions.
Turkey Investment Conference & U.S. Business Engagements
As part of the Turkey Investment Conference organized by the Turkey-U.S. Business Council (TAIK), Minister Bayraktar participated in a roundtable meeting with Turkish and American business leaders under the leadership of President Erdoğan. He also attended a session organized by the Turkish-American National Steering Committee (TASC), where President Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to being a strong advocate of justice, peace, and fairness worldwide.
Minister Bayraktar emphasized:
“Under the leadership of our President, Turkey will continue to be the voice of justice against oppression, the voice of peace against despair, and the voice of humanity against narrow self-interest.”
Focus on Renewable Energy & Transparent Market Principles
Bayraktar also met with Anna Bjerde, World Bank Managing Director of Operations, to discuss Turkey’s energy transition and investment needs. The talks covered opportunities in renewable energy, electricity transmission and distribution, nuclear energy, natural gas, and critical minerals.
He stated:
“We are determined to build a transparent, predictable, and sustainable investment environment in Turkey, and we will continue joint efforts with the World Bank in this regard.”
Strategic LNG and Hydrocarbon Cooperation
During his visit, Bayraktar also engaged with leading global energy companies. In his meeting with executives from Hartree Energy, he reviewed the recently signed 600 million cubic meter LNG supply agreement between BOTAŞ and Hartree at Gastech 2025 in Milan, and explored new long-term cooperation opportunities to enhance Turkey’s energy security.
Additionally, Bayraktar held talks with Derek Magness, President of Chevron Eurasia, evaluating collaboration prospects in LNG trading, hydrocarbon exploration, and production projects in Turkey and other regions.
With these strategic meetings in New York, Turkey is reinforcing its position as a reliable energy hub, strengthening ties with international financial institutions and global energy companies to ensure long-term energy security and investment growth.
